007 First Light has sold more than 2.7 million copies: revenues do not yet cover expenses
The development of a video game can require investments of hundreds of millions of euros, imposing extraordinarily high sales goals just to break even. A clear example of this dynamic is represented by 007 First Light.
Is commercial success not enough?
IO Interactive has confirmed that 007 First Light has reached 2.7 million copies sold in the first week of availability. At this point, the title may have exceeded 3 million copies, considering all platforms. For more details on the game, you can check out the review from Hardware Upgrade.

This is a truly significant number, but as confirmed by the CEO of the software house, Hakan Abrak, the road to making the game a true success is still very long (and many more copies will need to be sold). The game may have reached almost 200 million dollars in costs. Abrak has highlighted that this figure does not represent the primary development costs, but nonetheless, IO Interactive's expenses have increased due to marketing and other ancillary expenses, such as future bonuses to be awarded to developers and, above all, managers.
Abrak emphasized: "We have not yet fully recovered the investment because there are also partnerships and royalties. But it is above all our dreams and expectations. It will be an extremely important result for us and, in every way, it will be a phenomenal success."
In the future, IO Interactive could be working on another Bond game, although as highlighted by the CEO himself, there is currently nothing decided yet and negotiations are ongoing with Amazon, which holds the rights.
