Sega Revives Crazy Taxi with World Tour: New Chapter Coming in 2027

Crazy Taxi World Tour

Overview

Crazy Taxi World Tour marks the return of Sega's historic series, with a new chapter slated for 2027. The game was showcased during the Xbox Games Showcase and represents the first episode in the saga since 2017, bringing back one of the company's most recognizable arcade franchises.

The title will be available on Xbox Series X|S, PC via Xbox and Steam, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2. Therefore, it is a multi-platform launch aiming to reach a wide audience, marking the modern revival of the series after several years of absence.

Gameplay and Features

According to the trailer shown, Crazy Taxi World Tour retains the chaotic element typical of the saga. The sequences include surreal situations such as sharks jumping out of the ocean and passengers carrying huge stacks of pizza boxes. These elements revive the exaggerated and comedic style that has always characterized the franchise.

Nostalgia Meets Innovation

Part of the setting recalls a city inspired by San Francisco, but the title itself suggests that the experience will not be limited to a single area. The game is expected to include various locations in a kind of global journey, expanding the concept beyond previous installments.

The project fits into Sega's strategy to revive some of its historic series, despite the abandonment of the Super Game plan. Crazy Taxi was also at the center of rumors about a possible evolution into an open-world and MMO experience, and this new chapter seems to incorporate some of those ideas.

One of the most nostalgic elements is the inclusion of the song "All I Want" by The Offspring, already present in the original game. The song has also been featured in the trailer for the new chapter, reinforcing the emotional connection with the series' past. Crazy Taxi World Tour thus aims to combine nostalgia and innovation.
