DOOM: The Dark Ages Expands with Revelations: The New Weapon Promises to Revolutionize Combat

DOOM: The Dark Ages

DOOM: The Dark Ages will continue to expand in 2026 with Revelations, the new expansion campaign announced by id Software during the Xbox Games Showcase. The expansion will be available from July 7 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, adding a new chapter to the Slayer's story and introducing several innovations in gameplay.

According to the developer, the plot of Revelations will lead the protagonist to confront one of the most difficult phases of his existence. Wounded and betrayed, the Slayer finds himself trapped in a sort of purgatory from which he can only escape by facing the darkest truths of his past. During the adventure, he will be accompanied by a mysterious ally and will have to face a creature described as a divine abomination to free his followers and change the course of his destiny.

In terms of content, the expansion will introduce new levels characterized by more complex puzzles than those present in the main campaign, as well as new demons and additional narrative elements aimed at expanding the mythology of the DOOM: The Dark Ages universe. Among the most relevant new features is the Chain Spear, a new weapon that promises to significantly change the pace of battles. It is a spear designed to combine mobility and offensive power, with a system that rewards players who can master its mechanics. According to id Software, the goal is to offer a more dynamic and precision-based approach to combat, introducing new tactical possibilities for more experienced users.

Alongside the launch of the expansion, Ripatorium 3.0, a free update for all game owners, will also be released. The customizable arena mode will receive more advanced customization options, an improved system for generating access codes, and the ability to create and save personal presets. Players who purchase Revelations will also be able to unlock three new maps, new demons, and fully upgraded weapons to use within the Ripatorium once the campaign is completed.

As for distribution, Revelations will be included at no additional cost for owners of the Premium Edition and the Collector's Bundle of DOOM: The Dark Ages. Those who own the standard edition will be able to purchase the DLC separately for $19.99 or upgrade to the Premium Edition.
