ADATA Trusta to Reduce AI Implementation Costs by up to 50%. At Computex, SSDs with NFC Interface Also Introduced

Naturally, we couldn't miss the meeting with ADATA at the Taipei fair, one of the leading hardware manufacturers and memory providers globally. As we've seen with other major producers, ADATA this year has also focused primarily on the enterprise side of the offering. However, consumer solutions were not lacking, and the external storage units caught particular attention, including the appearance of Urban Tapsafe, a proposal with an NFC interface for unlocking directly from a smartphone.

Let's start with the enterprise component, as ADATA has expanded the Trusta AI ecosystem with a software approach aimed at improving memory management. The reason is quite evident and known to enthusiasts: the demand for DRAM is constantly increasing and production capacity cannot keep up with the demand. For this reason, ADATA has taken a pragmatic approach to the shortage: optimizing scalability through better resource management and reducing the necessity to expand hardware wherever possible. Clearly, this is somewhat of a "stopgap" solution, but it remains a critical aspect where optimization is beneficial.

To achieve this goal, the Trusta ecosystem adopts a hybrid approach to coordination between storage and R-DIMM memory, enabling off-loading of the LLM model for inference and training between GPU, DRAM, and SSD. According to ADATA, this flexible allocation system reduces AI implementation costs by up to 50% and provides more accessible AI-based systems.

Naturally, along with the demo of the new software ecosystem, ADATA also showcased rack solutions developed in collaboration with partners like Gigabyte and ASRock, who are also currently focusing on high-margin enterprise solutions.

As mentioned earlier, consumer solutions were also present, although this year there were no dramatic changes to the offering. On the memory front, the proposal remains largely unchanged, except for the new Novakey RGB DDR5. These are the world’s first modules to use a patented "infinite mirror" design. Another peculiarity is the use of 50% aluminum and 85% recycled plastic. This offering maintains high standards, delivering premium performance that reaches speeds of up to 8000 MT/s, while being quite innovative from an aesthetic and environmental standpoint.

Of course, the memory will be compatible with all Intel and AMD platforms, but a specific version developed in collaboration with ASUS ROG will also be offered. These are the Nova Key RGB DDR5 ROG Certified, which guarantee full compatibility with the Taiwanese manufacturer's motherboards in terms of specifications as well as management through Armoury Crate.

As mentioned at the beginning, among the most interesting products are the new portable solid-state drives. In particular, we saw the Urban Pocket Elite, an extremely compact external SSD that reaches capacities of up to 2 TB and sequential read and write speeds of 4000 MB/s and 3600 MB/s, respectively. Like the new Novakey memory, this unit also utilizes 50% recycled aluminum and 85% post-consumer plastic.

Even more interesting was the Urban Tapsafe. As previously mentioned, the unit uses a security system based on an NFC interface. In summary, the unit must be paired with your smartphone through which you can unlock access to the data. Without NFC recognition, the data remains encrypted and inaccessible. Speeds are reduced compared to the Urban Pocket Elite, specifically at 1900 MB/s for both reading and writing. However, the capacities remain the same: support will be available in sizes of 1 TB or 2 TB. The strengths of this offering are undoubtedly security and portability.

Weighing in at just 72.6 grams, thanks to the use of a single-chip design that has allowed for reduced dimensions and fewer internal components. Additionally, unlike the Pocket Elite, it also has a rear clip support, ideal especially for photography professionals who need a memory unit constantly at hand.

ADATA has not yet announced prices, but more information should arrive in the coming months.
