ASUS Reenters the Android Tablet Market with a New Mid-Range Model
After a few weeks of initial information, official confirmation has arrived: ASUS is reentering the Android tablet market, having temporarily exited the smartphone sector. The new direction for the Taiwanese company is represented by the ASUS Pad, the first model in a potential new product line that could develop in the future. It's worth noting that ASUS has never stopped making tablets but has focused on high-end models with Windows, such as the recent ProArt PZ14.
Specifications
The new ASUS Pad features a 12.2-inch dual-layer OLED display, with a 3:2 aspect ratio, a resolution of 2800 x 1840 pixels, and a maximum refresh rate of 144 Hz. The tablet is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8300 SoC, an excellent solution for a mid-range model, supported by 8 GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage.
It is equipped with a 9,000 mAh battery, supports 45 W charging, and has a four-speaker stereo system with Dolby Atmos. The operating system is Android 16. Support for the ASUS Pen 2.0 and an official Bluetooth keyboard is also anticipated (the two accessories may be offered in a bundle).
The camera setup includes a 13 MP rear camera and a 5 MP front camera, along with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. The tablet weighs 523 grams and has a thickness of 6.5 mm. It also features a magnesium alloy frame paired with a fiberglass rear panel.
The tablet was presented with a press release that does not provide information on the availability and pricing of the new model.
