Instagram Introduces a Teleprompter Tool in the Main App to Help Creators Record Smoother Videos

Instagram has introduced a new feature dedicated to creators aimed at simplifying video content creation: an integrated teleprompter directly within the main app's camera. The tool allows users to scroll through a script on the screen while recording, helping them maintain a smooth delivery without having to memorize the text or redo multiple takes.

The update was announced by Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri through his official channel. As explained by Mosseri, the feature has been transitioned from the Edits app to the main Instagram camera. Specifically, the teleprompter allows users to upload a script that is displayed in a scrolling text format during the video recording.

The text is positioned to be near the front camera of the device, enabling creators to look directly at the lens while reading the script. This helps make the presentation more natural and less stiff compared to using traditional notes or memorizing the entire text.

Instagram's Update to Support Creators

According to reports, the tool is designed to reduce the number of takes needed, improving the fluidity of the creative process. Creators will no longer have to look away from the camera to read external notes, thereby avoiding a less engaging effect in the videos.

Another feature of the teleprompter is the ability to control the scrolling speed of the text. This allows users to tailor the teleprompter's pace to their needs and communication style.

The teleprompter function was initially introduced in the Edits app in June 2025 and is now integrated directly into the main Instagram experience. This update represents a step towards a greater centralization of video creation tools within the app. Overall, it is an update aimed at improving the quality of video content and simplifying the work of creators.
