Venus Optics unveils the new Laowa 4.5-10mm f2.8 CF FishEye Zoom lens
The Asian manufacturer Venus Optics continues to expand its portfolio of products dedicated to the increasingly specific needs of many photographers. Recently, we reported on the presentation of the Laowa 17mm f4 ZD Shift and Laowa 17mm f4 ZD T/S as well as the Laowa 35mm f/2.8 Zero-D Tilt-Shift 0.5x Macro. However, the company also announced the new Laowa 4.5-10mm f2.8 CF FishEye Zoom lens in recent days.
This lens is designed for APS-C and Micro Four Thirds (MFT) systems and promises to be compact, easy to transport, while also creating high-impact photographs. As suggested by its name, the new Laowa 4.5-10mm f2.8 CF FishEye Zoom can switch from a circular image at 180° to a diagonal perspective that fills the entire frame. The constant aperture of f/2.8 allows for photography even in low light conditions.
Thanks to its structure, the Laowa 4.5-10mm f2.8 CF FishEye Zoom helps reduce lens changes during shooting sessions. As mentioned, the diaphragm has a maximum aperture of f/2.8 and a minimum of f/22, featuring a structure with 7 blades. The optical design consists of 13 elements arranged in 9 groups with four ultra-low dispersion lenses and one high-refractive lens. The focus ring travel is 77°, while the aperture ring travel is 42°.
The minimum focusing distance is 10 cm, and focusing is manual only. Due to the lens structure, it is not possible to install filters. The dimensions are 68.9 x 59.3 mm with a weight of 338 grams.
Venus Optics has chosen to offer the Laowa 4.5-10mm f2.8 CF FishEye Zoom with different mounts such as Sony E, Nikon Z, Canon RF, L mount, Fujifilm X, Canon EOS-M, and MFT. Currently, the model is available for 400 euros (+ VAT) from the Italian distributor.
