The Official Debut of Rivian R2: Orders and Deliveries Open June 9

Rivian is finally ready for the second phase of its history, with the mid-size platform set to debut with R2, the SUV that promises to scale mass production and achieve the desired profits.

Through an official blog post, the company led by RJ Scaringe announced that the fixed date for the final launch is June 9, when customers who expressed interest will receive invitations to place orders, while selected groups will already receive the first models. Simultaneously, test drives will begin.

Not all customers will receive their R2 at the same speed. In the initial phase, deliveries closest to Rivian's service and demo centers will be prioritized, and existing owners of R1 vehicles will often receive priority, as will customers with expiring lease contracts.

The available version is the top-of-the-line model, called Performance, with a starting price of $57,999. This is an AWD version, with 656 horsepower, and an EPA-rated range of 530 km, which is quite stringent compared to our WLTP.

Later, at the end of 2026, the Premium version will be available, priced at $53,999, and finally in 2027, the Standard version will arrive, starting at $48,490.
