Meta Introduces Plus Subscriptions for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp: Here Are the Exclusive Features for Paying Users

Meta has announced the official launch of new subscription plans for Instagram, Facebook, and WhatsApp, introducing a range of exclusive features accessible only to paying users. After several months of public testing conducted fairly discreetly, the company has started distributing the "Plus" versions of its main social applications.

Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus will cost $3.99 per month each, while WhatsApp Plus will be available for $2.99 monthly. The new subscriptions include additional tools and options not available to free users.

For Instagram Plus, Meta introduces several advanced features primarily related to Stories. Subscribed users will be able to consult detailed statistics on views, discover who has rewatched a Story, search among viewers, and extend the duration of Stories beyond the standard 24-hour limit. It will also be possible to publish content without showing it in the feed of one's followers.

Additional Details on Subscription Plans Under Development at Meta

During the testing phase, which appeared online as early as the end of March, other exclusive features also emerged such as "spotlight Stories", new special reactions called "super heart", and the ability to view some Stories from other users without appearing in the viewer list.

Facebook Plus will offer similar benefits to those provided for Instagram, while WhatsApp Plus will introduce custom themes, exclusive ringtones, new customization options, premium stickers, a larger number of pinned chats, and other subscriber-specific features. All these experiments will be grouped under the new Meta One brand, which will represent the platform through which Meta will test its subscription services, including initiatives related to artificial intelligence, creators, and business accounts.

The company is also experimenting with a freemium model for Meta AI. Some advanced AI features, such as Thinking mode, extended reasoning, and the generation of images and videos, will be subject to limits for free users and fully available only through specific paid plans. Meta has also confirmed that it is working on new subscription models for creators and companies.
