Huawei Could Present a New Chip Faster than the A18 Pro of the MacBook Neo
Huawei continues to grow and innovate its range, integrating new technologies and closing the gap with competitors, despite American sanctions making access to certain components impossible.
The upcoming innovation from Huawei could represent the definitive confirmation of the return of the Chinese company. The Kirin 9050 chip could, in fact, be faster than the Apple A18 Pro, the 3 nm chip used by the Cupertino company on the iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max and the latest MacBook Neo. This is certainly an interesting scenario, but there are still several aspects to clarify.
A Leap Forward for Huawei?
The new rumors anticipate the potential of the future Kirin 9050, which is expected to be introduced by the Mate 90 smartphone series in the coming months. The chip should introduce new 3D stacking technologies for integrated circuits, aiming to increase transistor density in the absence of a more advanced production process, such as TSMC's 3 nm technology.
This solution could be one of the reasons behind the performance leap of the Kirin 9050, which, as mentioned at the beginning, could surpass Apple's A18 Pro. The information in question, provided by analyst Yu Fangbo from CITIC Securities, does not clarify in which tests Huawei's chip would be able to outperform Apple's and, most importantly, does not reference energy consumption.
The described scenario is still very interesting and the situation will need to be monitored closely. Huawei's new project, even just approaching the levels of the A18 Pro, could be capable of surprising.
