Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Officially Announced, Release Date and Details on Campaign and Multiplayer

Activision and Infinity Ward have officially announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, the new chapter in the famous shooting series, set to arrive on October 23, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and, for the first time in the history of the main franchise, also on Nintendo Switch 2.

Developed by Infinity Ward with support from Beenox for the PC version, Modern Warfare 4 will take players into a rapidly escalating global conflict, with the heart of the war located in the Korean Peninsula. The campaign will tell the story of Private Park, a young South Korean soldier caught up in a large-scale North Korean invasion. Meanwhile, Captain Price will operate outside the rules as a rogue operator, engaged in the search for a weapon potentially capable of causing a global disaster. The story mode will take players to various areas around the globe, featuring close-quarters combat in New York, high-speed chases in the streets of Paris, night raids by the SAS in Mumbai, and intense trench battles in Korea.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, Release Date, Multiplayer and Modes

On the multiplayer front, Infinity Ward promises a more realistic and precise experience, based on a fluid and highly controllable movement system. Among the main innovations is Ballistic Authority, a new system focused on the realism of weapons and gunplay, described as the most authentic ever seen in the Modern Warfare series.

At launch, 12 Core maps will be available set in different locations around the world. A new multiplayer mode called Kill Block will debut, featuring dynamic maps capable of reconfiguring their layout between rounds, offering over 500 possible combinations.

The return of DMZ, the extraction mode, will also be significant, proposing constantly different operations in an ever-evolving combat zone. Further details about DMZ will be shared on June 7. Infinity Ward and Beenox have also confirmed a special focus on the PC version, with increased options dedicated to performance, visual fidelity, responsiveness, and customization of the gaming experience.
