The Advertising Jury Supports Iliad: Fastweb + Vodafone's Complaints about the Ad with Megan Gale Rejected
The Advertising Jury has ruled on the controversy regarding Iliad Italia's new advertising campaign featuring Megan Gale, rejecting the objections raised by Fastweb + Vodafone and thus allowing the operator to continue broadcasting the television spot.
The campaign, titled "Few Things Are Forever," was launched by Iliad on May 6, 2026, marking Megan Gale's return as a spokesperson for a telecom operator in Italy. For Iliad, this is also the first time a well-known face has been used in their advertising campaigns, as the company had never previously relied on official spokespersons.
The choice of the Australian actress and model has had a strong media impact due to her historical connection with Vodafone. Between 1999 and 2008, Gale was the face of Omnitel's advertising campaigns and subsequently Vodafone Italia, accompanying the evolution of the brand over the years.
The Position of the Jury Regarding Iliad's Advertising Campaign
The model's return in a telecom advertisement, this time for a competing operator, has generated significant online attention and a strong sense of nostalgia. Iliad has indeed built part of its communication around the concept of "switching to Iliad," indirectly recalling Megan Gale's advertising past with Omnitel and Vodafone.
However, the campaign provoked a reaction from Fastweb + Vodafone, which contested the use of the historic spokesperson, deeming the associative reference to the Vodafone brand to be unfair. Following an initial warning, the company decided to bring the case before the Advertising Jury of the Self-Regulatory Advertising Institute.
According to what emerged from yesterday's hearing on May 26, 2026, the Jury found no violations of the Self-Regulatory Code by Iliad. The ruling statement, published on the IAP website, indeed asserts that "the communications examined are not in conflict with the Self-Regulatory Code." Consequently, Iliad will be able to continue airing the ad with Megan Gale.
