Nintendo Increases Production Rates: The Goal is to Sell 20 Million Switch 2 Units

Nintendo is significantly accelerating the production of its new console, aiming to reach 20 million units produced by March 2027. This reflects an increase of about 20% compared to the forecasts released earlier this month, signaling a strong confidence in global demand for the new hardware.

In its recent financial report, the Kyoto-based company indicated a sales target of 16.5 million units for the next fiscal year, a lower figure than the nearly 20 million recorded in the previous year. However, new information reported by Bloomberg indicates a shift in strategy on the production side, pushing for greater availability of consoles in the market.

According to some industry analysts, the company tends to maintain more conservative initial estimates only to surpass them later, a practice that allows for a more flexible management of investor and market expectations. This interpretation is supported by the recent trends in the company's forecasts.

Changes and Updates to Nintendo Switch 2 Management

Alongside production, Nintendo has also announced a price increase in various regions around the world. The variations will affect markets such as the United States, Europe, Canada, and Japan, with different increases depending on the geographical area. In some cases, the increase will be about $50 or €30, while in Japan, more significant increases are expected across the entire hardware line.

These changes will take effect between late 2026 and early 2027, with varying timelines depending on the market. The company has justified these changes by citing variations in global conditions (the price of memory and storage significantly rising) and an overall review of commercial prospects.

Meanwhile, the new generation catalog is being enriched with new productions, confirming the company’s commitment to accompany the new console with a rich and varied software offering.
