Helldivers 2: support for upscaling technologies and performance improvements on PC and consoles
Arrowhead Game Studios continues to support Helldivers 2 with new updates dedicated to both content and technical aspects of the game. After months of targeted interventions aimed at improving the overall online experience, the team announced an important update focused on performance, stability, and graphical quality for PC, Xbox, and PlayStation.
The update, scheduled for May 27, 2026, arises from the collaboration between Arrowhead and Nixxes, a studio specialized in Sony's PC ports. The primary goal is to improve fluidity, reduce latency, and introduce more modern upscaling technologies compared to the solutions used so far. On PC, AMD FSR 4.0.3, FSR 3.1.5, Nvidia DLSS 4.5, and Intel XeSS 3.0 will be implemented, offering compatibility with the GPUs supported by their respective manufacturers.
These technologies will replace the previous upscaling system, which is now considered outdated by the community. The console segment will also receive significant updates. Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 will support FSR 3.1, while PlayStation 5 Pro will use Sony's proprietary PSSR 1 technology to enhance image quality and frame rate stability.
Additional Details on Upcoming Technical Updates for Helldivers 2
In parallel, the team will introduce new solutions to reduce latency on PC. Compatible graphics cards will be able to take advantage of Nvidia Reflex and AMD Anti-Lag 2, tools designed to decrease response times during the most intense gaming sessions.
Arrowhead has also confirmed the arrival of further technologies aimed at optimizing the graphical engine's performance during chaotic battles. Among these are Variable Rate Shading, which lightens the load on the GPU by dynamically adjusting the shading level in less important areas of the image, and Dynamic Resolution Scaling, already integrated on PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5 to maintain more stable performance in heavier situations.
On PlayStation 5 and PS5 Pro, support for Variable Refresh Rate will also be introduced, useful for reducing any stuttering phenomena without introducing tearing on compatible screens. The update will also bring an increase in resolution to 1440p in Performance mode on PS5 and Xbox Series X, as well as in the Quality preset of PlayStation 5’s power-saving mode. Arrowhead has finally hinted that this will not be the only technical intervention planned.
