Leapmotor is Ready to Launch a Second Mid-High Range Brand

Leapmotor is enjoying success and growth in China, but also in Europe, through the joint venture led by Stellantis. On the sidelines of the earnings conference held today, Leapmotor's vice president, Li Tengfei, confirmed the plan to launch a second brand.

This is a common practice among Chinese manufacturers, who often use different brands to create ranges that target different customers, especially regarding price levels. Usually, however, the mechanism sees the transition from more expensive vehicles to cheaper ones, while Leapmotor will take the opposite route.

Currently, its vehicles target the more affordable segment of the market, but with the new brand, they aim to bring cars to the market starting at a price of at least $44,000. According to various Asian sources, the company plans to launch the new brand in 2027, possibly as early as the first half of the year.

For now, we do not know if the vehicles of the new brand will also be exported to Europe and the rest of the world through the collaboration with Stellantis. This is especially relevant as today, Stellantis officially announced the joint project with Dongfeng to build new Peugeot and Jeep models in China, effectively creating a corporate profile that extends into Asia in two distinct directions.
