ASUS ROG Crosshair 2006: Everything You Need to Know About the Motherboard Celebrating 20 Years of the ROG Line

Twenty years after the birth of the Republic of Gamers brand, ASUS has announced the new ROG Crosshair 2006, a commemorative motherboard that revisits the style and aesthetic elements of the first ROG motherboard launched in 2006, but reinterpreted with a completely modern hardware platform. The announcement had been anticipated in recent days and has now materialized.

The new offering is derived directly from the ROG Crosshair X870E Dark Hero, one of the flagship models of the current AM5 range from the Taiwanese manufacturer. The company's goal is to blend nostalgic references to the golden era of PC gaming with the functionalities demanded by hardware enthusiasts in 2026.

The aesthetics undoubtedly represent one of the central aspects of the project. ASUS has retrieved several iconic elements from the historic original Crosshair, starting from the copper, blue, and white color combination. The aluminum heat sinks feature a copper-colored finish that recalls the thermal solutions widely used in enthusiast systems from the mid-2000s, while DIMM slots, USB headers, and SATA connectors return to vibrant colors contrasting with the black PCB.

There is also a direct reference to the brand's past: the old cubic
