Goodbye Sony Exclusivity: Stellar Blade 2 Will Be Published Directly by Shift Up and May Arrive on Multiple Platforms

Shift Up has confirmed, during its latest financial report, that the sequel to Stellar Blade will be published internally and not by Sony. The South Korean studio explained that this decision will allow for direct management of marketing and more effective communication of the franchise's identity and narrative universe.

This choice marks a significant departure from the first chapter, which was released exclusively on PlayStation 5 with Sony's support and later arrived on PC. Sony's absence as the publisher for the second episode could therefore pave the way for a broader distribution across different platforms.

The development of Stellar Blade 2 was already confirmed in May 2025. At that time, the studio indicated a goal for release by 2026, or at least before 2027 (or during the early months of 2027). Recent information reaffirms that the project remains fully in line with this timeline.

Stellar Blade 2 and the Change in Distribution Strategy

Shift Up has confirmed that it continues to explore the expansion of the franchise to additional platforms. This statement connects to rumors that emerged during 2025, suggesting that the studio had obtained a development kit for Nintendo Switch 2 and is considering a port of the first Stellar Blade.

Currently, there are no official confirmations regarding a version for the new Nintendo console. In the past, Shift Up clarified that it was simply examining various internal possibilities, without having made a definitive decision yet.

Stellar Blade has proven to be a remarkable commercial success for the company. In February 2025, Shift Up reported that the game generated revenues of 219.8 billion won, equivalent to approximately 151.4 million dollars, contributing to a 30% annual increase in the company's revenue.
