macOS 27: Apple Adjusts Its Approach to Liquid Glass and Resolves Graphic Issues
The debut of macOS 26 Tahoe introduced the Liquid Glass aesthetic language, a visual evolution that, however, has not been without criticism, especially concerning visual ergonomics. According to the latest rumors collected by Mark Gurman, Apple is ready to take action with macOS 27, a release that is internally referred to as a "slight redesign" focused on cleaning up graphic imperfections. The primary goal is to resolve the contrast and readability issues that have plagued interface elements such as Finder, Control Center, and application sidebars, where the current management of shadows and transparencies often proves problematic.
The crux of the matter, as described by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, lies in a technical misalignment between software and hardware. Liquid Glass was designed by Cupertino’s designers to shine on OLED panels, capable of managing extremely deep blacks and gradients with a precision that the current LCD displays of MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, and iMac cannot faithfully replicate. Although, according to unconfirmed rumors, the future of the Mac line is expected to transition to touch OLED technologies, Apple needs an immediate solution for the existing machines, whose industrial designs largely date back to 2021-2022.
macOS 27: The Evolution of Liquid Glass Between Readability and Optimization
In addition to aesthetic tweaks, macOS 27 will follow the philosophy of so-called "refinement updates," mirroring what was done in the past with iOS 8 or iOS 12. The central theme of the development is code cleanliness, aiming to ensure greater energy efficiency and an increase in the overall performance of the system. According to the source, on the front of system apps, Safari will benefit from new smart features, including a system for automatically organizing tab groups, simplifying the management of complex workflows.
However, the real highlight of macOS 27, in synergy with iOS 27, will be the radical renewal of Siri. Apple’s voice assistant will be repositioned as a proactive assistant, supported by a chatbot-style interface based on Google’s Gemini models. This evolution will see a deep unification with Spotlight Search features, with the idea of offering a single access point for file searching and AI interaction, making Siri capable of completing complex tasks through a more extensive integration with Apple Intelligence.
All the news will be officially unveiled during WWDC 2026, whose opening keynote is scheduled for June 8. On that occasion, Apple will demonstrate how the convergence of refined design and new AI computing capabilities will transform the daily user experience on Mac.
