GTA 6 is Too Much for PS4: Rockstar's Game Will Also Cost You a PS5
Sony is sending messages to PS4 players to suggest switching to PS5 in anticipation of the arrival of GTA 6 on November 19, 2026. Meanwhile, promotional materials have surfaced indicating an ESRB Mature 17+ rating. The clues reinforce the idea that development is proceeding smoothly and that the launch will not face further delays. PlayStation has begun contacting some PS4 users to remind them that Grand Theft Auto VI will be available on November 19, 2026, and that to play it, one must own a PlayStation 5.
The message seems particularly aimed at those who have added the title to their wishlists and who have spent many hours on Grand Theft Auto V. Sony's communication explicitly invites users to purchase a PS5 in time for the launch of this new chapter in the series.
Beyond the promotional tone, the fact that this campaign starts six months in advance is interpreted as an encouraging sign regarding the project's timeline. In recent years, the game has already faced two delays, but this initiative suggests that, at least for now, the scheduled release date is not in question. For many observers, this is the most concrete indication that the release schedule is being adhered to.
PlayStation has seemingly confirmed the GTA 6 age rating is M for Mature +17 in the emails they sent yesterday. It still shows "Rating Pending" on Rockstar's website.

GTA 6, the Launch on PS5, and the Suggestion to Users
Promotional activity may intensify in the coming weeks. Anticipation is particularly focused on a possible third official trailer, considering that the previous main video was released on May 8, 2025, and since then Rockstar has not released any new major footage.
Over the weekend, marketing materials also appeared that reported the classification from the Entertainment Software Rating Board. According to this information, GTA 6 has received a Mature 17+ rating for the presence of blood, intense violence, adult humor, nudity, explicit language, sexual content, and use of drugs and alcohol.
For now, there are no updates for the PC version, as all communications continue to mention only PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S. According to some estimates, Take-Two Interactive has invested between 1 and 1.5 billion dollars in the game's development, while CEO Strauss Zelnick has reiterated that the company intends to offer more value than the price requested and that Rockstar will be able to make the title run on Xbox Series S as well.
