Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green for Switch and Switch 2 Sold Exceptionally Well

The Pokémon brand is still incredibly strong, and the confirmation comes from the results achieved by Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green with the new versions available for Switch and Switch 2 since the end of February. The numbers generated by the two games are truly remarkable but not surprising: Pokémon series titles continue to show excellent sales performance.

A Surprising Success

In just a few weeks, the games managed to achieve surprisingly high sales figures, considering the very few innovations compared to the original titles (released in 2004 on Game Boy Advance) and the significant price tag (€19.99).

As confirmed by Nintendo during the release of their financial results for the last quarter, the games have reached and surpassed 4 million copies sold within the first six weeks of launch.

This is an impressive result, especially since the 'development' work done by Nintendo to optimize Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green for Switch and Switch 2 was minimal. In fact, it is a near-zero cost operation that has allowed the company to monetize, once again, games that are over 20 years old but continue to appeal to players.

Following the success of Pokémon Fire Red and Leaf Green, Nintendo could now launch the versions Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald for Switch and Switch 2, thereby enriching the store with more historical titles presented with very few innovations. Further details regarding Nintendo's upcoming moves and the new Pokémon series titles for Switch and Switch 2 will be available soon.
