Goodbye to the 256 GB MacBook Neo? Apple Considering a Drastic Choice

The memory crisis is starting to be felt, and despite commercial success, Apple is beginning to consider possible changes for the MacBook Neo range.

To compensate for the rising costs of components, the Cupertino company is reportedly considering eliminating the base variant of the notebook. Here are all the details regarding this.

New Developments for the MacBook Neo?

The hypothesis circulating online in recent hours is surprising: Apple, in fact, has to deal with the increasing costs of memory and, consequently, is evaluating a change for its entry-level laptop range, the success of which has even surprised Apple.

The Neo could witness the exit of the 256 GB version, without altering the price of the 512 GB version, which would remain the only variant in the range, with a starting price that would become, in Italy, 799 euros. This second version offers Apple greater margins and, therefore, the ability to absorb an additional increase in component costs, particularly for memory.

There is also a looming issue with the A18 Pro chip. Stocks are reported to have been depleted, and TSMC has limited availability for its 3 nm production process. For new supplies, Apple may have to pay a premium.

These factors could also accelerate the arrival of the MacBook Neo 2 with the A19 Pro and 12 GB of unified memory. The new notebook could hit the market with only the 512 GB variant, along with a potential price increase.
