ASUS ExpertBook Ultra Works Even on Everest, But the Real Mountain is the Price

How many times have you found yourself walking at over 8,000 meters high and wanting to relax with a nice video on YouTube? Or perhaps, during a climb, needing to send an urgent email? If the answer is never, well, neither have we. However, ASUS wanted to demonstrate the physical resilience of the ExpertBook Ultra B9406CAA, a high-end notebook designed for the professional segment, with a rather unusual demonstration.

The company sent the laptop to 8,856 meters above sea level via a weather balloon. We are talking about an altitude higher than that of Mount Everest. The computer was launched into the air while performing a demo to ascertain whether it would continue to function.

During the flight, the laptop faced temperatures as low as -42.5°C and an atmospheric pressure of about 30% compared to that at sea level. ASUS demonstrated through the recording shared on YouTube that the device remained operational throughout the flight, which would confirm not only the stability of the hardware platform but also the excellent build quality that allows the laptop to operate in conditions far removed from everyday use.

The final phase of the test also included landing on wet terrain at about 26 km/h, an element that highlights the robustness of the notebook. The focus of the initiative remains clearly promotional, but ASUS has aimed for extreme conditions to differentiate its product in the competitive premium business sector.

From a technical standpoint, the ExpertBook Ultra B9406CAA integrates an Intel Core Ultra X7 358H processor, accompanied by 32GB of LPDDR5X-8533 memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 SSD. The configuration also includes a 14-inch tandem OLED touchscreen display with a resolution of 2880x1800, placing the device in the higher-end market segment. ASUS has confirmed prices starting from $3,599.99 for the US market via the ASUS Store.
