New Confirmations About iPhone 18: Many Compromises and Interchangeable Components with the 18e

Apple's plans for the future of the iPhone lineup are becoming increasingly clear. In the second half of 2026, the iPhone 18 Pro, 18 Pro Max, and the new Ultra will be launched. Air 2 is also in the pipeline. In the early months of 2027, the debut of the iPhone 18 is expected, which will be accompanied by the iPhone 18e, the future entry-level model of the range.

According to some rumors from recent weeks, Apple will make compromises for the iPhone 18 with the goal of reducing production costs, which are rising due to the memory crisis.

Will the iPhone 18 be a downgrade?

According to a new report, the iPhone 18 will be very similar to the iPhone 18e, to the extent that some components will be interchangeable between the two smartphones (unlike what happened with the 16 and 16e and 17 and 17e).

As previously noted in recent weeks, the iPhone 18 will include some compromises with a possible downgrade regarding the OLED display, featuring a previous-generation panel to cut costs (the Dynamic Island will still be present).

The production and assembly process may also have less stringent standards, bringing the iPhone 18 closer to the "e" series models and differentiating it from the Pro models.

Some other compromises related to the SoC and camera sensors as well as memory are not excluded. However, for now, there are no confirmations regarding this. We will see what Apple's moves will be concerning the future iPhone 18, a model that may disappoint some users' expectations.
