ASUS ROG GR70: Desktop Performance in a Space Smaller than a Console

ASUS has unveiled the new ROG GR70, a gaming mini PC from the Republic of Gamers family that aims to offer desktop-class performance in a chassis of less than three liters. The new system represents the first compact ROG model featuring the AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX3D processor, a solution based on Zen 5 architecture with 16 cores and 32 threads, designed for heavy workloads including high-resolution gaming or rendering.

One of the most relevant features is the integration of second-generation AMD 3D V-Cache technology, which improves cache structure, clock speeds, and frequencies compared to the previous generation. This technology optimizes gaming, especially at lower resolutions, where CPU load increases, making the GR70 suitable for high refresh rate competitive gaming.

On the graphics front, ASUS offers configurations with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU or RTX 5060 Laptop GPU, both based on NVIDIA Blackwell architecture. The platform supports DLSS 4 with Multi Frame Generation technology, which, thanks to the generation of up to three additional frames for each rendered frame, guarantees significantly higher framerates in compatible titles.

Connectivity is one of the aspects ASUS has focused on the most. The ROG GR70 integrates WiFi 7 with Multi-Link Operation technology and Bluetooth 5.4. The equipment also includes eight USB ports and supports up to five 4K displays.

Equally impressive is the cooling system, a critical aspect of such compact systems. ASUS has adopted the ROG QuietFlow cooling system with triple fan, dedicated heatpipes, and acoustic optimization. The goal is to ensure low temperatures even under heavy load, with declared noise levels below 4.5 dB(A), an incredibly low value for such a system, considering that typical desktop PC fans usually produce noise levels above 20 dB(A).

From an expandability perspective, the GR70 offers access to internal hardware via a knurled head screw that requires no tools. Users can install up to 96 GB of RAM and quickly upgrade the M.2 storage thanks to the Q-Latch system.

Software management is, of course, via ROG Armoury Crate and a dedicated BIOS that allow for complete monitoring of metrics and customization of parameters at the click of a button, both manual and automatic with specific profiles for some games.

Naturally, the convenience, compactness, and power offered by the new ROG GR70 come at a price that is not exactly accessible. In Italy, only one variant has been confirmed at 3,599 euros. The offering boasts the RTX 5070 but only 16 GB of RAM, upgradeable to 96 GB.
