Apex Legends Finally Supports Ryzen CPUs with 3D V-Cache Technology
With the new Overclocked update for Apex Legends, Respawn Entertainment has addressed an unusual technical issue that was directly affecting the most powerful CPUs on the market, particularly the AMD Ryzen X3D processors. According to the official patch notes, the particularly high single-thread performance of these solutions could cause anomalies in the game's physics calculations, especially under extremely high frame rate conditions.
The defect emerged more frequently on configurations capable of pushing Apex Legends beyond 500 FPS, a scenario in which physics management could become inconsistent and generate irregular behaviors, also accompanied by stuttering phenomena. Therefore, the new update introduces a revision of CPU performance dedicated to physics calculations, aiming to eliminate these issues at their root.
The fix focuses in particular on frame time stability and simulation consistency, two fundamental elements when the game engine operates on high-end hardware. Essentially, it was not the hardware showing limits, but the software failing to properly utilize a computing power exceeding the initial expectations of the developers.

- Improved occlusion data structures, used for Olympus in the latest mid-season update, have been extended to all maps, with a slight improvement in CPU performance.
- Resolved an issue that could cause occasional drops in frame rate when the game was run at extremely high frequencies (e.g., 240+).
- Improved ambient occlusion, which includes a new specular occlusion. This is faster than the previous ambient occlusion in most cases, except with High or Ultra settings at high resolutions (4K on PC).
- Enhanced accuracy of reflections intensity with cubemaps, especially in shadowed areas.
- Improved accuracy of sky ambient lighting.
- Enhanced pre-calculated lighting for many objects within the map.
