TIM, new price increases from June: how to avoid the €2.99 increase
TIM has officially announced a new wave of unilateral changes to contract conditions affecting a substantial group of prepaid customers starting from June 7, 2026. This marks the seventh round of adjustments since the beginning of the year, a maneuver that the operator justifies with the usual economic needs arising from changing market conditions.
The price increase is not fixed, but will range between €1.99 and €2.99 per month depending on the tariff profile involved. The official communication appeared on the operator's portal, alongside the sending of the first personalized informational SMS that will reach the devices of the impacted users.
The price increases will become effective from the first charge after February 13, 2026, effectively making the renewal on June 7 the first test for customers' wallets. As observed in previous similar cases, TIM did not specify the individual offers affected by the change, leaving it to text messages and the MyTIM area to clarify each user's standing. It cannot be ruled out that this maneuver may also affect those who had already experienced the adjustments at the beginning of 2025.
TIM announces new increases: fees of up to €2.99. How to block the increase
The price increase, as previously occurred, can be neutralized. TIM does allow customers to maintain their current monthly cost by activating a dedicated alternative offer, which provides the same current fee but with a bonus of 2 GB of additional data traffic. To take advantage of this loophole, it is necessary to send a free SMS to the number 40916 with the text CONFERMA ON no later than May 31, 2026.
However, caution is advised: in past adjustments, TIM used the phrase "CONFERMO ON", whereas for this wave, the correct command is "CONFERMA ON". Since it is not possible to reply directly to the informational SMS received from the operator, the user must compose a new message to 40916. Alternatively, for those who wish to delve into the details of their position, it is possible to contact the free number 409164 or Customer Service 119.
For those who decide to accept the new increased fee, TIM also offers some options to enhance the offer, which can be activated for free right away. Depending on the specific campaign assigned to the line, customers can choose to add 50 GB of monthly data traffic (by sending an SMS with the text 50GIGA ON to 40916) or request free activation of 5G Ultra (text 5G ON to 40916).
The 5G Ultra option, in particular, represents the crown jewel of TIM's technical offering, guaranteeing priority access to the fifth-generation network with performance that can reach 2 Gbps in download and 300 Mbps in upload. It is important to emphasize that the user can only activate the specific initiative indicated in the informational message received and not both. Should the proposed changes not be welcomed and one does not wish to opt for the price retention offer, the option to exercise the right of withdrawal or switch to another operator without penalties or disconnection costs remains firm. The deadline for sending the communication is set for July 6, 2026.
