Steam Deck 2 is in development: Valve aims to improve the handheld by following the evolution of its ecosystem

Valve has officially confirmed that it is working on Steam Deck 2, the successor to the popular gaming handheld PC. This was revealed by programmer Pierre-Loup Griffais during a recent interview, highlighting that the project is already in active development.

According to Griffais, the new device will represent a natural evolution of the hardware path taken by the company in recent years. From the original Steam Controller to Steam Machine, and up to the first Steam Deck, each product has helped build a more coherent and gaming-oriented ecosystem for PC mobility.

Steam Deck 2 will thus follow this philosophy, leveraging the lessons learned from previous models. The Valve team is working to improve various aspects of the device, although no specific details have been provided regarding technical specifications or a launch window. However, it is evident that the current context represents a significant challenge. The global memory crisis, which is affecting the entire technology sector, could significantly influence development times, costs, and product availability.

Steam Deck 2 and the Supply and Development Issues
