Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra: among the innovations, a silicon-carbon battery for increased autonomy
Among the innovations of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra (and the S27 Pro, a variant of the Ultra without S-Pen), there will be a battery with increased capacity, thanks to the transition to silicon-carbon batteries. At least this is the scenario described by a new report that attempts to anticipate what the South Korean company’s moves will be.
A new battery, finally
With the Galaxy S27 Ultra, Samsung's flagship may finally abandon the 5,000 mAh battery in favor of a larger unit, aiming to ensure greater autonomy. Reports confirm a possible capacity increase of up to a maximum of 5,800 mAh.
This figure would represent a substantial upgrade compared to the S26 Ultra, even though the specifications of Chinese flagships, which often exceed 7,000 mAh, are decidedly superior.
The company is said to be testing various configurations for its silicon-carbon batteries, and a final decision may not yet have been made. In any case, the goal is clear: Samsung aims to offer a flagship capable of making a significant leap in autonomy.
Other specifications
Among other specifications, the Galaxy S27 Ultra is expected to feature a new M16 OLED panel, with a substantial increase in efficiency, and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro SoC. However, in some markets, Samsung's flagship is expected to launch with the Exynos 2700. An update to the camera department is also possible, featuring a new telephoto lens. For more details, we will have to wait for the coming months, as the launch of the new S27 series is scheduled for the early months of 2027.
