Forget about memory crisis: the future iPhone 18 may have more RAM than its predecessor

In recent days, various information has emerged regarding the new iPhone 18, a smartphone expected in the early months of 2027, which is likely to present some compromises to allow Apple to contain production costs. However, on one aspect, the Cupertino company does not intend to cut costs: RAM which could increase compared to that available on the iPhone 17. Here are the first details about the new Apple model.

More RAM for the smartphone

A new report confirms that the new iPhone 18 is expected to hit the market with 12 GB of RAM, reaching the same level as the Pro models. This choice could be linked to artificial intelligence, which, with the arrival of the new version of Siri, is expected to become increasingly central to iOS.

The jump from 8 GB to 12 GB of RAM will lead to a substantial increase in production costs, and for this reason, Apple may have to make compromises on other elements of the technical specifications, such as the OLED display, which could be made from an older generation panel.

Among the technical specifications, there will be room for the Apple A20 SoC, produced with a 2 nm manufacturing process and capable of guaranteeing a 15% performance boost without compromising efficiency.

At the moment, information on the project is still sparse. The official debut is expected to occur during the first quarter of 2027, while the Pro models are expected to arrive during the upcoming September. Alongside the iPhone 18, Apple will almost certainly launch the iPhone 18e.
