This model does not seek to revolutionize the aesthetics compared to its predecessor but instead focuses on technical refinement that aims to bring features usually reserved for higher price ranges. With an extremely thin profile and a balanced technical specification thanks to the new MediaTek processor, the Moto G77 positions itself as a solid alternative for those seeking substance without compromising on a modern and somewhat refined design.

In terms of memory, Motorola has chosen to standardize the equipment with 8 GB of RAM, a quantity that in 2026 represents the minimum threshold for ensuring smooth multitasking with modern Android apps. As for internal storage, in Italy it is available starting from 256 GB (proposed at a retail price of €349.90), along with the possibility of further expanding storage via a hybrid slot that accommodates microSD cards up to 2 TB. Connectivity is comprehensive and includes support for 5G SA/NSA networks, as well as dual-band Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC for contactless payments.

Security is managed by a side-mounted fingerprint sensor integrated into the power button, a choice that guarantees speed and naturalness in unlocking, although it is less convenient compared to the in-display sensor typical of higher market segments.

This choice not only gives a premium feel to the touch but also solves the annoying problem of fingerprints that plague glass or glossy plastic shells, while providing superior grip that reduces the risk of drops.

The side frame is made of high-quality plastic, molded with curves that facilitate a one-handed grip. The collaboration with Pantone continues to be an aesthetic strength, bringing matte and saturated shades that immediately distinguish the product from flashier Chinese competitors.

Under stress, the Mali-G57 MC2 GPU proves capable of managing the most popular mobile titles like Call of Duty or Asphalt at medium graphical settings, maintaining a stable frame rate. Although it is not an extreme device for competitive gaming, the Moto G77 never overheats excessively; heat is concentrated around the camera area but remains within thresholds that do not annoy the user. The energy management of the 6nm production process ensures that performance remains consistent even after hours of intense use, avoiding sudden drops in frequency.

Display

The standout feature that immediately catches the eye of the smartphone is the 6.78-inch AMOLED panel. Motorola has chosen to go beyond the Full HD standard, implementing a 1.5K resolution (1272 x 2772 pixels), which translates into a density of about 450 ppi. This increase in detail is noticeable in the sharpness of text and high-definition multimedia content reproduction, where edges appear extremely well defined. The AMOLED technology ensures absolute blacks and infinite contrast, with vivid but customizable color calibration through system settings for those who prefer more natural tones.

The 120Hz refresh rate is intelligently managed to balance fluidity and energy consumption. Whether consulting maps outdoors or watching a streaming TV series with HDR support, the Moto G77 5G's screen performs optimally, reducing reflections thanks to fairly effective surface treatment. The screen-to-body ratio close to 89% contributes to an immersive experience, minimizing bezels and integrating the front camera into a small central hole that does not distract during use.

Battery Life

Energy management is one of the pillars upon which the entire Moto G77 5G experience rests. The 5200mAh unit represents a good level for such a thin device, although high-end smartphones are accustomed to values over 7000 mAh thanks to silicon-carbon technology. It must be said that the processor of the Moto G77 proved to be very efficient in our tests (especially compared to the more powerful SoCs of flagship devices), with the smartphone consistently ensuring safe coverage for the day (and even a bit beyond) under fairly heavy loads.

In our "overall" test, the smartphone scored 875 minutes with the display brightness set at 200 nits, using a script that simulates human interactions on web pages, video streaming, and alternating CPU and GPU benchmark sessions. The 30W TurboPower charging allows for recovering a significant percentage of energy in a short time, but it is clear that afternoon top-ups are not as quick and efficient as on more expensive devices.

Wireless charging is not present, a necessary compromise to maintain the competitive price and the thin profile, but the efficiency of the Dimensity 6400 makes this absence less felt. Less intensive users can safely cover two days of use, especially when activating the more conservative display settings concerning refresh rate.

Camera

The main camera module is dominated by a 108-megapixel sensor with an f/1.7 aperture. Through pixel binning technique, the camera captures native 12MP shots characterized by excellent dynamic range and contained digital noise, even when lighting conditions are not ideal.

The presence of optical stabilization (OIS) is fundamental for obtaining sharp nighttime photos and stable videos without the dragging effect typical of purely electronic solutions. A notable feature is the lossless 3x zoom, which takes advantage of the high resolution of the sensor to crop the image without noticeable quality loss, making it effective for portraits or getting closer to distant subjects without needing a dedicated telephoto lens.

The 32-megapixel front camera completes the package, offering sufficiently detailed selfies and the ability to record video up to 1440p, a plus that is uncommon for content creators heavily using social platforms or for those making professional video calls. The Night Vision mode extends shooting capabilities to the front sensor, illuminating faces evenly without excessively altering skin tones.

Price and Market

The positioning of the Moto G77 5G is clear: with a launch price of €349.90 for the version with 256 GB of internal storage, Motorola directly targets the heart of the midrange market. This is, in my opinion, a bit of a high price, justifiable only when considering the quality of the display and the camera resolution, elements that often force rivals into more evident compromises. However, the device openly challenges the proposals from Xiaomi and realme, offering a cleaner software experience and a MIL-STD certified design, while having perceived performance that is somewhat inferior. The Moto G77 offers several features that could mainly convince those seeking long-term reliability, accepting some sacrifices on the plain technical sheet.

Final Considerations

The Moto G77 5G does not seek to reinvent the smartphone but refines the formula for the all-round device for 2026. The decision to focus on a 1.5K AMOLED panel is a winning one, especially for those who believe that interaction with the screen is the most constant aspect of user experience.

The 108MP camera with OIS and lossless zoom offers above-average versatility, making the imaging compartment reliable in almost every daily situation. Solid battery life and robust construction, combined with IP64 certification, confirm the pragmatic vocation of this model.

Certainly, the lack of ultra-fast charging may raise some eyebrows among enthusiasts, but it is an acceptable and probably necessary compromise in exchange for such a thin body. In conclusion, the Moto G77 5G confirms itself as a rational and balanced choice: it does not aim to provide a premium experience but stays true to Motorola's historical tradition of providing solid hardware and software without too many frills.
