Itala is reborn: the historic automotive brand returns thanks to the DR Group

The historic automotive brand Itala is preparing to officially return to the market, marking a new phase for one of the most iconic names in the Italian automotive industry. The announcement was made during the presentation of a novel dedicated to the legendary Peking to Paris raid of 1907, an event that contributed to cementing the international prestige of the brand.

The key moment of the relaunch will be on May 18, when the revival project will be officially presented at the National Automobile Museum (MAUTO) in Turin, along with the first new models. The choice of location is not coincidental: it is here that the historic Itala 35/45 HP from 1907 is preserved, the star of Prince Scipione Borghese's victory in the famous Peking to Paris competition.

Founded in 1903 by Matteo Ceirano, Itala was one of the most important companies in the Italian automotive landscape, second only to Fiat in production volumes during its golden age. After its closure in 1934, the brand remained in the collective memory as a symbol of innovation and sporting successes.

Itala and collaboration with DR The return of Itala is made possible by the DR Group, led by Massimo Di Risio, who has also acquired the OSCA brand. The industrial plan calls for investments of approximately 50 million euros and involves both the historic factory in Macchia d'Isernia and the new production hub in Anagni, with a strong emphasis on Made in Italy.

According to early rumors, Itala will focus on the production of large SUVs and crossovers, characterized by an elegant design and positioned in the mid-high market segment. At the same time, OSCA is expected to target lightweight sports cars, equipped with 2.0 engines derived from Lotus, aimed at international markets, particularly North America and Asia.

Despite these anticipations, official details about the models remain limited. The event on May 18 will therefore represent a crucial moment for understanding the stylistic and technological direction of the brand's new course, as well as its industrial solidity.
