Intel Arc G3 Extreme: Up to 80W of Power in the Palm of Your Hand According to Rumors

New information has surfaced regarding Intel's handheld device chips based on Panther Lake architecture: according to sources from VideoCardz, the new offerings will be presented at Computex 2026. Two proposals are expected to hit the market: Arc G3 and Arc G3 Extreme, a nomenclature that resembles that used by AMD for its Ryzen Z series APUs.

The internal roadmap places the two chips in the second quarter of 2026, with a lifecycle extending until the second quarter of 2027. This timeline suggests an imminent presentation, although the commercial availability remains uncertain.

An interesting aspect has emerged regarding the iGPUs, or the graphics component of the chip. The new proposals would integrate Arc architecture-based GPUs with updated names: Arc B390 for the higher-performing models and Arc B370 for the less powerful variants. This naming scheme aligns better with the structure already adopted by Intel in its other Arc lines, creating greater consistency in the offering.

Details regarding power consumption are also intriguing. According to what VideoCardz has reported, internal documents indicate a base TDP of 25W, while maximum values in turbo mode could reach as high as 65W and 80W, depending on the configuration. These are extreme values indeed, especially when compared to the Ryzen Z2 Extreme, which has a reference TDP of 15W and can be configured between 4 and 28 Watts.

Finally, sources report that validation with partners has already been completed, which means the chip is ready to equip platforms. Currently, only two manufacturers are mentioned: MSI and OneXPlayer. Other brands such as GPD, Acer, and Microsoft are involved, while there are still no concrete signs from ASUS and Lenovo, who have so far relied only on AMD's offerings.

As mentioned, there are no concrete indications regarding commercialization. Looking at Intel's past in the sector, several months have typically passed from the presentation of chips to their commercial release. In the current context, however, the memory crisis should be added to the mix, which could further delay the release. Consequently, it is likely that handheld consoles powered by Intel processors will hit the market between the third and fourth quarters of this year.
