Apple is increasingly using recycled components in its products

In recent months, Apple has updated its product range with many new features, achieving extraordinary results with its iPhones and carving out a leading position even in the lower end of the notebook market with the MacBook Neo.

Behind the scenes, however, the Cupertino company has been working on a very ambitious project: increasing the percentage of recycled materials used in the production of its products. With an official announcement made this week, Apple confirmed that it has reached a new milestone.

Increasing Recycled Materials for Apple

Considering all the devices produced during 2025, Apple has managed to achieve a percentage of 30% regarding the use of recycled material, thanks in part to careful selection of components.

In some cases, the company has raised the percentage of recycled material to 100%, such as for the cobalt in batteries and the rare earth elements used for magnets, as well as the gold and tin plating in printed circuits designed by Apple. The company has also kept its promise to eliminate plastic from packaging and has completed the transition to fiber-based packaging.

A virtuous example of recycled material usage is represented by the MacBook Neo, which contains 60% recycled material in total. This is the highest percentage ever achieved by Apple for one of its products.

It is also worth noting, in terms of environmental sustainability, that Apple has succeeded in reducing greenhouse gas emissions related to its operations by over 60% compared to 2015 data. Emission levels have remained steady since 2024 despite significant company growth. The next step is carbon neutrality, which is expected to be reached by 2030.
