Apple is preparing a new update for the iPad Air: this time there will be an OLED display
Apple has recently updated the iPad Air range with the debut of a variant featuring the M4 chip, which, in addition to the SoC upgrade and increased unified memory, brings few novelties. However, a new generation is on the way, expected to debut between the end of 2026 and the beginning of 2027. With this update, Apple is set to integrate an OLED display, at least according to the latest rumors that have emerged online.
OLED Display for iPad Air
The new OLED panel for the iPad Air (11 and 13 inches) will be produced by Samsung Display, which will start production at the end of this year or, at the latest, at the beginning of next year. The display is expected to be LTPS and might not support ProMotion technology, highlighting a significant difference compared to the high-quality Tandem OLED panels used in the iPad Pro, which are the top of the range in the iPad line.
The new generation of iPad Air with the OLED display is also expected to feature an update to the chip, moving to the M5 that is currently used by the aforementioned iPad Pro. At the moment, the available information on the project ends here. The new iPad Air, due to the OLED display and memory crisis, could see a price increase compared to current models.
Further details about Apple's new tablets will undoubtedly arrive in the coming weeks, ahead of the expected launch, likely in the first part of next year. Apple is working on various new products and will continue to actively update its tablet range.
