Unitree's Robot is a Real Sprinter: It Reached 10 m/s and is Now Aiming for Bolt's Record

Robotics is making continuous strides forward, and never before has it run so fast as in this case.

Unitree Robotics, which sells some robots on AliExpress, has published a video showcasing the H1 robot in action. This humanoid robot has a combined thigh and calf length of 80 centimeters and weighs about 62 kilograms. Therefore, H1 has parameters similar to those of an average human and is capable of reaching a very high speed. The robot seems to have been designed to become a true sprinter, setting new records. Here’s the video published on social media:

10m/s!! Unitree Breaks the World Record Again 😄
With the physique of an ordinary person, running at a world champion’s speed!
Leg length: 0.4+0.4=0.8m, body weight: approx. 62kg!
H1: “Give me one more chance, give the world one more honor!”

Engaged in a sprint on an athletics track, the Unitree robot indeed reached a speed of 10.1 meters per second, hitting a new record. This value is very close to the 10.44 meters per second average speed recorded by Usain Bolt during his world record of 9.58 seconds for the 100 meters. In 2024, H1 was just over 3 meters per second.

The caption of the video published by the company is clear: "With the physique of an ordinary person, it runs at the speed of a world champion." Let's remember that Unitree's CEO, Wang Xingxing, in the past, set the goal for his humanoid robots to break the 10-second barrier for the 100 meters by the end of 2026. Development will continue and new tests will be conducted. The goal of 10 seconds is getting closer, and the target of the 'human' world record is not so far away.
