Humanoid Robot Scares Off a Pack of Wild Boars in Poland. The Video Goes Viral

The latest episode that has set the web ablaze, bouncing between international headlines and social networks, comes from Poland, where a humanoid robot was filmed while "patrolling" an urban area, focused on scaring away a pack of wild boars. The video, which has quickly racked up millions of views on platforms like TikTok and X, shows a scene that looks like it came straight out of an episode of Black Mirror: a humanoid with an anthropomorphic structure, standing about 130 centimeters tall and having a surprisingly fluid gait, decisively chasing a group of wild boars through the streets.

Poland, like many other European countries (Italy included), is facing a real emergency related to the massive presence of wild boars in metropolitan areas. Traditional containment methods often clash with public safety issues or legislative restrictions on the use of weapons in cities. This is why the choice of a robot, which does not feel fear and can operate 24/7 thanks to LiDAR sensors and thermal cameras capable of monitoring the territory with superhuman precision, has been made.

Reality or Science Fiction?
As is often the case with viral content involving high-level robotics, the scientific community and tech observers maintain a healthy skepticism. Although the technology to create a similar scene already exists, many are questioning the nature of the video: is it an official test by Polish authorities for wildlife management, or are we faced with a sophisticated marketing operation by a startup intent on showcasing the capabilities of its hardware?

The reality is that by surfing the internet and getting informed about the news through local sources, it's all true. The robot is well-known in Poland and even has a name, Edward. It is a humanoid robot Unitree G1, famous in Poland especially on the web, but it has also appeared on television shows.
