Snap Partners with Qualcomm for Future Smart Glasses: New Specs are Coming
The smart glasses sector is attracting the attention of a growing number of tech companies. Among these is Snap with its subsidiary Specs Inc., which has announced a multi-year strategic agreement with Qualcomm. The goal is clear: future Specs products will rely on Qualcomm's SoCs, particularly the Snapdragon XR series, used by several OEMs such as Samsung, which has chosen the American company's SoCs for its Galaxy XR.
Smart Glasses Aiming to Impress
The new partnership, following a collaboration that has been ongoing for several years, will bear its first fruits by the end of 2026 with the arrival of Specs, glasses that are "cutting-edge, capable of seamlessly integrating digital experiences into the real world." These glasses will leverage AI capabilities and will have high processing power without compromising on efficiency.
To learn more, however, we’ll need to wait for the coming months. The agreement marks a turning point for Snap, which aims to strengthen its market presence by fully harnessing the potential of Qualcomm's chips, which are set to become a benchmark in the XR wearable sector.
Specs could carve out a prominent space in Europe as well, particularly in Italy, playing a leading role in a sector still seeking a device that can "make a difference" in terms of user experience and functionality.
Evan Spiegel, co-founder and CEO of Snap Inc, commented on the announcement of the collaboration:
"Our partnership with Qualcomm lays a solid foundation for the future of Specs, offering developers and consumers advanced technology and performance that expand the boundaries of possibility."
Cristiano Amon, President and Chief Executive Officer of Qualcomm Incorporated, added:
"Our work on future generations of Specs will facilitate the realization of interactive, low-power AR devices that provide natural and intuitive agentic experiences that seamlessly integrate into everyday life."
