Polaroid Launches New Hi-Print 3x3 Printer Designed for Square Prints
Polaroid expands its product portfolio with the new Hi-Print 3x3 printer, chasing what many are calling "the year of analog." Of course, this won’t bring camera sales back to their former glory, but it could have interesting results in the long run (for instance, reigniting sales of compact cameras or DSLRs, as well as affordable yet valid mirrorless options).
With the Polaroid Hi-Print 3x3 photo printer, users can print shots captured with their smartphones or transferred from their cameras to their smartphones. Like other similar solutions, it allows the use of frames, digital stickers, and templates, so each print is completely customizable. These images can be used to decorate one’s home, beautify gifts, or serve as keepsakes.
The printer measures 103 x 131 x 30 mm and weighs 390 grams. Inside, there is a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, and the printing speed is about one photo in less than 50 seconds (Dye Diffusion Thermal Transfer). Stine Bauer Dahlberg, Chief Product Officer of Polaroid, stated that "people keep so many memories and significant moments on their phones: photos, screenshots, conversations, notes… but they stay there, locked inside a device. We wanted to give them a new life, make them something you can hold, display, and truly experience. The Hi-Print 3x3 was created with that goal in mind. It’s a completely new design for us: a printer that is also a frame, so the most important moments can sit on your desk, be shared with someone you love, or change with your mood. There’s nothing like it on the market."
The design of the new Hi-Print 3x3 printer features an upper area where a photo can be inserted, providing a display frame for one’s desk rather than just a simple device. Polaroid's new photo printer has been available for a few days from the official distributor and selected retailers at a price of €109.99. Obviously, compatible 3x3-format paper is also available, and the app supports both iOS and Android.
