eFootball Reaches One Billion Downloads: Konami Celebrates with Ronaldinho and the Return of Master League
The Japanese giant Konami has officially announced that eFootball has surpassed the psychological threshold of one billion downloads worldwide, a milestone that underscores the cross-platform scope of the project.
To celebrate this historic "round," Konami did not limit itself to a simple press release, but launched a massive in-game operation that goes straight to the hearts of long-time fans, skillfully blending modern bonuses and nostalgia for the golden era of PES.
The Return of the Legend: Ronaldinho and the Master League
The cornerstone of the celebratory campaign is undoubtedly the involvement of Ronaldinho Gaúcho. All users who log in during the event period will receive "Chance Deals" that will allow them to add football legends to their squad, with the Brazilian superstar serving as the main ambassador. But the charm offensive doesn’t stop with high-profile names: Konami has decided to revive the Master League brand, although in a temporary form called "Master League Sprint."
Until April 16, players can try their hand at a simplified managerial mode that brings back the aesthetics and feel of the older chapters. The detail that will bring a tear to veterans is the presence of the "default" players from the original series: names like Castolo and Minanda return to grace the virtual fields. The structure of this mode rests on three pillars: Synergy, which evaluates player compatibility; Episodes, random events like injuries or form peaks that spice up the season; and a market budget management based on points earned on the field.
Gameplay Updates: Toward Greater Realism
In addition to the celebratory content, regarding the technical evolution of the game engine, Konami introduces targeted refinements to the control system. The most significant novelty is the implementation of the "Advanced Feint" command, designed to offer a more immediate and precise response in one-on-one confrontations. The stated goal is to increase the realism of player movements, reducing the feelings of stiffness that characterized the early versions of the title post-rebranding.
The Official Manga Arrives
In an unusual cross-media marketing move, the celebration also extends to the world of Japanese publishing. In collaboration with Kodansha, a manga titled "That Time I Got Reincarnated in PES" will be published, written by Kiminori Wakasugi (famous for Detroit Metal City). The story, with fantasy/Isekai tones, sees the protagonist reincarnated into the world of Master League in eFootball, interacting with the aforementioned Castolo and Minanda. This initiative confirms Konami's willingness to transform eFootball into an ecosystem that goes beyond the simple playing field.
