Cyberpunk 2077 Updates on PS5 Pro with Three Graphics Modes and Advanced Ray Tracing

The long-awaited update for Cyberpunk 2077 on PlayStation 5 Pro is finally available as of today, April 8, bringing with it a series of significant improvements in both graphics and performance. After initially excluding specific support for the console, the team at CD Projekt RED has decided to fully leverage the hardware capabilities of the PS5 Pro.

One of the central elements of the update is the introduction of PSSR (PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution) technology, which enables a 4K upscaled resolution with a high level of detail. This system enhances image sharpness without compromising performance, making Night City even more immersive.

In addition to upscaling, the developers have boosted the ray tracing system by implementing an 8-way BVH structure, which improves light calculation in complex scenarios. The result is a more realistic visual presentation, with reflections, shadows, and global illumination that are truer to the artistic vision of the game.

Key New Features in Cyberpunk 2077 on PS5 Pro

One of the main new features is the presence of three different graphics modes to choose from. The Ray Tracing Pro mode offers the most complete experience, including advanced reflections, emissive lighting, ambient occlusion, and detailed shadows. In this mode, the game runs at 30 FPS, or 40 FPS on screens with variable refresh rates.

The Performance mode, on the other hand, is designed for those who prioritize smoothness, allowing for up to 90 FPS on VRR-compatible displays. Finally, the standard Ray Tracing mode represents a compromise between quality and performance, providing advanced effects with a stable 60 FPS frame rate.

The developers' stated goal is to make the most of the PS5 Pro's power to deliver the best possible version of the game. The update significantly enhances immersion, making exploration of the city even more spectacular. Pending more in-depth testing, this update represents an important step in the evolution of the game.
