Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, release may be postponed to 2027 due to a crowded video game schedule

The return of Lara Croft may require more patience than expected. According to various rumors, Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis, initially scheduled for 2026, may have been postponed to February 2027. The news, which is not yet officially confirmed, comes from unverified but considered reliable sources within the community.

The title is developed by Crystal Dynamics, which had already excited fans during the The Game Awards 2025, announcing not one but two new projects related to the famous archaeologist. However, this possible delay suggests that the team wants to take more time to refine the experience.

One of the main reasons behind the postponement is the extremely competitive schedule expected for the second half of 2026. Among the most anticipated titles is Grand Theft Auto VI, set for release in November, along with productions like Marvel's Wolverine, the new Fable, and Halo: Campaign Evolved. Adding to these are other major franchises like Gears of War and Call of Duty, making the period particularly crowded.

In such a context, launching an important title like Legacy of Atlantis could mean risking being overshadowed by strong competitors. Postponing the release to 2027 would instead allow for greater visibility and, above all, more time to refine the game.

The project is described as a kind of "love letter to the fans", an element that makes it even more important to pay attention to every detail. An additional development period could therefore result in a more solid product that meets expectations, especially considering the historical weight of the franchise.

At the same time, the launch of another title, Tomb Raider: Catalyst, set years after the events of Underworld, is also anticipated. This suggests that 2027 could become a crucial year for the revival of the saga. Both games are expected on next-generation platforms, including Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC, confirming the technical ambition of the project.
