Sony Changes: the Future Xperia 1 May Feature a Unique Design
Sony will not abandon the smartphone market and plans to debut a new high-end device in 2026: the Sony Xperia 1 VIII is currently in development. The smartphone could represent a significant update for the Japanese company, which is looking for ways to revitalize its market presence.
As confirmed by new renders, Sony's flagship is expected to adopt a redesign for the rear casing, bidding farewell to its iconic design. Last year, Sony launched the Xperia 1 VII (which you can read the review of), a model limited by a high price and reduced distribution.
A New Design for Sony?
According to the renders that have appeared online, the future Sony Xperia 1 VIII is set to introduce a new rear camera module with a square shape and a different sensor arrangement. There is also talk of a possible debut of the front camera integrated into a hole in the display, a feature that would represent another novelty for the Japanese company's smartphones.
It's important to emphasize that the aforementioned renders, as highlighted by the source, may not represent the final design of Sony's new smartphone. The Sony Xperia 1 VIII will be a high-end model and will most likely feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, accompanied by a suitable memory configuration (let's hypothesize 12/512 GB). An AMOLED panel will be present, and the camera setup is expected to be premium as well. For now, however, the available information is limited. We will know more soon.
