Panasonic LUMIX TZ300: the new compact travel camera that fits in your pocket and is ready for summer

Users are gradually returning to appreciate photography that is not captured only with smartphones (although these devices remain the favorites and the most accessible). Although the glory days for cameras are unlikely to return, there are still some small innovations in the market. Among the latest products presented is the new Panasonic LUMIX TZ300.

The Japanese company has chosen to expand its historic line of travel cameras by introducing this new pocket-sized compact designed for travelers, content creators, and anyone who wants to have a small device capable of distinguishing itself from a smartphone as the sole means to capture images. The declared aim is simple: to offer superior image quality without compromising the practicality of a camera that is always ready to use, whether it’s capturing distant monuments, urban night scenes, or spontaneous moments with friends.

Panasonic LUMIX TZ300: Technical Features

To achieve good image quality, the Panasonic LUMIX TZ300 utilizes a 1" BSI CMOS sensor with a resolution of 20.1 megapixels. Clearly, there are larger and more advanced sensors on the market that can reach places this model cannot, but this would result in a larger body and increased overall costs, thus undermining the camera's objective.

As for the lens, it is certified LEICA (LEICA DC VARIO-ELMAR) with an equivalent focal length of 24–360 mm and 15x optical zoom featuring an optical design with 13 elements divided into 11 groups (including one ED aspherical lens, five aspherical lenses, and three ED lenses). The aperture ranges from f/3.3 to f/6.4. This allows for capturing very different photographs with various subjects, from landscapes to monuments, city photos, or events with friends and family. It also has macro focusing, allowing focus as close as 3 cm from the subject.

Regarding videos, the Panasonic LUMIX TZ300 supports 4K recording (3840×2160 pixels), making it usable for travel VLOGs. There is also Full HD recording at 120 fps that allows for slow motion. Additionally, there is a feature called 4K PHOTO that enables capturing sequences at 30 fps and extracting the shot directly from the camera. While this does lose some quality, it ensures capturing a dynamic moment.

The camera includes the POWER O.I.S. system, designed to compensate for hand movement, while during video use, the HYBRID O.I.S.+ system with 5 axes is employed. The software incorporates 22 creative effects, allowing you to customize shots without needing external editing software. The flash is built-in. For connectivity, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are available for quickly transferring photos and videos to your smartphone via the Panasonic Image App. Charging occurs via USB Type-C, eliminating the need to carry specific chargers, as you can use power banks or solutions designed for smartphones and tablets.

The camera dimensions are 66.4 x 111.2 x 45.2 mm with a weight of approximately 337 grams. The Panasonic LUMIX TZ300 will arrive in Europe from early May 2026 in black (DC-TZ300E-K) and gray (DC-TZ300E-S) colors, with a recommended retail price of around 999 euros.
