Only 9 specimens in the world: here is the iPhone with a relic of Steve Jobs inside
Caviar, a brand known for covering Apple devices with gold, titanium, and exotic materials, has decided to go even further on the occasion of a historic milestone: the 50th anniversary of Apple.
Caviar celebrates Apple's 50 years: a fragment of Jobs' turtleneck inside the iPhone
The new creation by Caviar (here the site) is called iPhone 17 Pro Jobs Edition and, as the name suggests, is a direct tribute to the company's co-founder.
However, the particularity that is stirring discussion online does not lie in the refined design or the use of noble materials but in what is embedded within the rear logo: an authentic fragment of the legendary black turtleneck worn by Steve Jobs during the historic product presentations of NeXT in the late '80s.
From an aesthetic point of view, the smartphone does not merely "host" the textile relic. The design is a clear nod to the iPhone 2G, the original model that forever changed the world of telephony in 2007. The rear casing is made of PVD-finished titanium, divided chromatically into two blocks (black and silver) to simulate the iconic contrast of the first model.
In the center, within the logo of the bitten apple, stands out under a transparent protection the small square of black fabric, accompanied by a laser engraving reproducing Jobs' signature. On the lower part of the frame is also inscribed the wording "50 Anniversary Edition," emphasizing the exclusivity of the operation.
Specifications and prices: for the few, indeed very few
Under the customized "armor," the hardware remains that of a common iPhone 17 Pro (or Pro Max, depending on the customer's choice). There are no technical enhancements or exclusive software features, except for a pre-installed custom background. The value, for Caviar, resides entirely in the authenticity of the piece of history contained within the device, certified by official documents verifying its provenance.
The price, as expected, is not for everyone. The base version of the 256GB iPhone 17 Pro is offered at $9,630, a figure that quickly rises above $11,500 if opting for the Pro Max variant with a 1TB memory size.
The production is limited to only 9 specimens worldwide, a number chosen as a tribute to the launch date of the first iPhone (January 9). According to the latest rumors, despite the price exceeding almost ten times that of the official list, a large part of the units has already been reserved by collectors and investors in the "tech memorabilia" sector.
