Pro Type Ergo: Razer Makes a Bold Move into the Professional Sector with its New Split Keyboard
Razer has introduced its first productivity-focused keyboard with a split and ergonomic design: Pro Type Ergo. The device is designed to enhance comfort during long work sessions and features characteristics quite distinct from traditional gaming solutions.
Firstly, we are talking about a keyboard with a "splitted" design defined as Alice-style, which means it is divided into two distinct sections for the right and left hands, with a dual spacebar (one for each side), a double 'B' key, and a central backspace. The goal is to limit finger crossing and train the user to utilize a single section per hand, especially for those unaccustomed to ergonomic keyboards.
As mentioned, the design is intended to keep hands, wrists, and shoulders in a correct position and reduce fatigue. For this reason, it features a central groove and an integrated wrist rest, alongside a double adjustable tilt for both downward and upward positions.
From a construction standpoint, the Pro Type Ergo utilizes low-profile keycaps shaped for fingertip use, characterized by slight spherical indentations that help maintain a centered position while typing. The focus on the professional environment is also evident in noise management: the frame integrates sound-absorbing layers and optimized stabilizers to ensure silent yet tactile typing, suitable for shared spaces or video conferences.
On the connectivity front, the keyboard offers a complete system with multi-device support across 5 modes. It includes HyperSpeed Wireless at 2.4 GHz, three Bluetooth profiles, and a wired USB-C connection, allowing for seamless management of multiple devices.
Naturally, everything comes with the traditional Razer touch, with particular attention to customization. The keyboard features two customizable wheels alongside three productivity buttons located at the top right, one of which is dedicated to AI functionalities, allowing users to quickly open the chat dialog with the chatbot.
The ubiquitous RGB lighting is present, although in this case, it is not per individual key but in 19 zones. As usual, all settings will be managed by Razer Synapse. The keyboard is already available on Razer's official website, currently with only the American ANSI layout, priced at 199.99 euros.
