Less and Less Privacy on WhatsApp: A Section to See Who Is Online Is Coming

WhatsApp is always an open construction site, with continuous updates that integrate the application with new features. Among the upcoming news is a dedicated section for online contacts that is currently in testing with the Android version of the app. In the meantime, the application continues to enrich the AI tools available to users.

Another New Feature Coming for WhatsApp

As revealed by WABetaInfo, the latest beta version of the WhatsApp app for Android includes a section dedicated to online contacts at the moment the user logs into the app. These contacts can then be sorted both by the last online activity and in alphabetical order. The section is also expected to include contacts not in the address book but with whom a conversation has recently been initiated (in this case, a button will appear to add the number to contacts).

Currently, the section dedicated to online contacts is located in the Settings, but with the release of the stable version of the app, it could be moved to a different location in the UI for easier access.

Users, of course, will be able to avoid appearing on the online contact list of other users by adjusting the privacy settings of WhatsApp, which offer full control over managing online status.

The new list of online contacts is not yet available to all beta program participants of WhatsApp and should therefore be considered a feature still in full development. The release could take place in the coming weeks.
