The Beats Studio Buds+ feature a custom dual-layer driver combined with an acoustic venting system that Beats has redesigned compared to the first generation. The chipset is a proprietary Beats processor (not the H2 of the AirPods Pro) but manages a three microphone architecture per earbud, which is three times larger than the previous model, with a measurable impact on both ANC and call quality. The active noise cancellation has been significantly improved compared to the first generation, while the Transparency mode, one of Beats' historical weaknesses, has been revamped with a claimed 2x gain, without the slight artificial sealing that affected the previous model. Connectivity is via Bluetooth 5.3 with AAC and SBC codecs: there is no support for LDAC or aptX, a choice that reflects their positioning in the Apple ecosystem where AAC is the reference codec.
Regarding total battery life, it amounts to 36 hours: 9 hours per single charge of the earbuds plus 27 hours from the case, with ANC active. Without ANC, this increases to 9 and 27 hours respectively. We are talking about one of the few Beats products that offer complete integration with both Apple and Android: on iPhone, pairing is instant with a tap, with access to hands-free Siri, Find My location feature, and spatial audio; on Android, pairing happens with a single tap via Fast Pair, with battery notifications and access to Google Assistant. The certification is IPX4, meaning it is resistant to sweat and splashes, adequate for daily sports use.
At full price, Beats Studio Buds+ was a product that struggled to justify its almost €200 list price against the Nothing Ear (a) and Sony LinkBuds S. At €109, the profile changes: the bidirectional Apple/Android integration is still rare in this price range, call quality is among the best in the category, and the 36 hours of total battery life is a figure that is hard to match under €130. Those deeply embedded in the Apple ecosystem but wanting to maintain flexibility on Android will find it hard to find a more affordable alternative at this price.
