There is still room for iMac: a new display technology is in development

Among the future innovations in Apple's range, there will also be an iMac with a QD-OLED display that will complement the MacBook Pro with an OLED display in the new lineup of Mac computers set to move away from LCD panels.

A new iMac is on the way

According to a new leak, Apple is working on a new generation of iMac that, as previously mentioned, should integrate a QD-OLED display. To realize the project, the Cupertino company will rely on one of its most reliable partners: it will indeed be Samsung Display providing the necessary panels for the new computer. The Korean company is currently the main manufacturer of QD-OLED (Quantum Dot OLED) panels, which are widely used by various brands for high-end monitors.

A secondary supply is also expected from LG Display, with Apple continuing its strategy of choosing multiple suppliers whenever possible. The project for the new iMac with an OLED display is not imminent, and it will take a few years before more precise details are available.

According to initial information, the launch of the model is expected to arrive between 2029 and 2030. At this moment, there are no further details regarding the project, which might also be realized in various versions, not just the 24-inch display that currently characterizes the existing iMac with M4, which could receive a refresh before the switch to QD-OLED panels.

In the meantime, we remind you that Apple is set to launch its first MacBook with an OLED display by the end of this year.
