iPhone 18 Pro, design change coming: the Dynamic Island will be smaller

In recent weeks, we have talked on several occasions about the Dynamic Island of the new iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, which will be released next September. To confirm the rumors from previous days, today new photos of some screen protectors have emerged that might have spoiled one of the main novelties of the new iPhones.

Indeed, ahead is a design change for the front part of the smartphones that Apple will present in the second half of the year. Here are all the details regarding it.

What will change

According to the photos that appeared online (thanks to a leak on Weibo), the pill present at the top of the iPhone display should be smaller with the new iPhone 18 series, compared to what we have seen with the iPhone 17. In particular, it should decrease from about 20.76 mm in width to 13.49 mm. This result is expected to be achieved thanks to a reduction in the size of the Face ID sensors, which could be at least partially installed under the display.

The new design will not be exclusive to the iPhone 18 Pro/Pro Max. According to the source, even the new iPhone Air 2 and the base iPhone 18 (which is expected to arrive in early 2027) will feature the new Dynamic Island.

As mentioned earlier, there is currently no official confirmation regarding the design change of the iPhones. However, the images showing the screen protectors are the first confirmation of a change to come.
